Senator Jay Costa: Well, I think for Senate Democrats, as well as our constituents across the commonwealth, job creation and job retention programs and making investments to help us create jobs and passing legislation makes it easier for folks to come here, set up shop and then hire Pennsylvanians. That’s our highest priority.
There’s a couple of ways in which we can do that. One is obviously looking at the issue of transportation funding. We have an opportunity, and we must act on that opportunity as it relates to providing resources for our roads, and our bridges, and mass transit here in our commonwealth. If we do that and we make the appropriate investment, that will stimulate our economy that would create jobs and would grow jobs in this commonwealth for a long period of time. That’s probably our highest priority.
But there are a number of other issues that I think we’re going to have a conversation about. I think as we go forward we’re going to continue to talk, making certain that we make the appropriate investments in education. We're going to talk about shoring up our social safety nets that have taken a significant hit the last several years. We have to make sure our older folks, our vulnerable folks, have the programs in place to allow them the opportunity to lead dignified lives. And those are the type of things we’ll be working and focusing on.
