This week I spoke on the floor of the Senate to share with my colleagues the details of the Democratic Caucus’s PA Works plan to create jobs
and expand business opportunities.
PA Works would spur the creation of over 28,000 jobs in Pennsylvania and leverage over $2 billion in new private investment, while simultaneously resulting in more than $150 million in general fund savings.
I have already shared this plan with Governor Corbett and his nominee to lead the state's Department of Community and Economic Development, Alan Walker.
In my floor remarks, I encouraged senators from both sides of the aisle to join us as we work aggressively to create jobs and ensure that every issue and every decision made in the coming months is gauged by its impact on job creation and retention.
I also strongly recommended that all members of the Senate review our plan and join us as we strive to make government more efficient, to support small business, to invest in our infrastructure, to improve access to workforce training and to bring real tax fairness to Pennsylvania.
PA Works is an aggressive and workable solution to the problems facing our Commonwealth, and I am hopeful that my Senate colleagues recognize the merits of our proposal.
