In the days leading up to the budget address, the governor outlined his school funding plan, his economic development plan as well as his agenda for reforming home and community based services for seniors.

‘Schools That Teach Tour’ Stop in Pottsville Highlights Governor Wolf’s School Funding Plan
Pottsville, PA, February 12, 2015 – Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf today continued his “Schools That Teach Tour” with a stop at DHH Lengel Middle School in Schuylkill County, where he discussed his education reinvestment plan. The Governor’s proposal is part of his solution to properly fund Pennsylvania’s schools, which have suffered from $1 billion in funding cuts in recent years. These cuts have forced school districts to increase class sizes, lay-off teachers and other staff, and make serious program cuts that make it more difficult for students to get a strong education in Pennsylvania’s public schools.

Governor Wolf Announces Key Economic Development Pieces of Budget to Help to Rebuild the Middle Class
Bethlehem, PA, February 25, 2015 – Governor Tom Wolf today announced that his 2015-16 Budget will include significant reforms aimed at three goals for economic development and creating good-paying, middle class jobs: creating a pro-growth business climate; building Pennsylvania’s manufacturing sector; and creating workforce partnerships for economic success.
“We need to rebuild the middle class, and we can do that by creating good jobs right here in Pennsylvania,” Governor Wolf said. “For too long the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania hasn’t been a place where businesses want to come, invest and grow. Country-leading high corporate tax rates have slowed existing businesses from expanding and entrepreneurs from growing new ideas here.

Governor Wolf Announces Initiative to Improve Home- and Community-Based Care Services for Seniors in Pennsylvania
Phildadelphia, PA, February 27, 2015 –Today, Governor Tom Wolf unveiled a package of legislative and budgetary actions to provide choice and protections for seniors as they age. Governor Wolf, the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the PA Department of Aging (PDA) are committed to increasing opportunities for seniors to receive care in a home or community-based setting.
“My actions today are just the first step in rebalancing our long term care system and increasing opportunities for home care workers,” said Governor Wolf. “This package is designed to provide choices for seniors, efficiencies in home- and community-based care delivery, and protections so that seniors receive the high quality level of care that they seek in their homes.”
