Department Of Health Visits Masonic Village To Highlight Success In Vaccinating Residents And Staff And Updated Visitation Recommendation

Elizabethtown, PA  – Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam today visited Masonic Villages to highlight the success of vaccination efforts in nursing homes and the measures facilities have taken to support the physical and mental wellbeing of some of Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable residents.

The latest measure includes implementing the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) revised nursing home visitation guidance, which the Wolf Administration has been strongly encouraging all nursing homes in Pennsylvania to implement.

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed as of 12:00 a.m., March 29, there were 2,923 additional positive cases of COVID-19, in addition to 7,178 new cases reported for Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28 combined, for a three-day total of 10,101 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 1,015,268.

There are 1,856 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 366 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older. More data is available here.

Department Of Health Announces Free COVID-19 Testing Site In Centre County, Stresses Need For Continued Testing

Harrisburg, PA – Stressing the need for continued COVID-19 testing even as vaccinations accelerate, the Department of Health today announced that beginning Tuesday, March 30, a long-term free indoor walk-in COVID-19 testing site will open for the general public in Centre County. This site is available through a partnership with AMI Expeditionary Healthcare (AMI) and Centre County Officials.

Shiremanstown, PA – Department of Human Services Secretary Teresa Miller today visited the Children’s Garden of St. John’s to highlight Pennsylvania’s ongoing work to facilitate COVID-19 vaccinations for child care providers through the retail pharmacy partnership.

Pennsylvania’s child care industry has been greatly challenged during the pandemic. This initiative is easing access to COVID-19 vaccines for dedicated child care workers across the commonwealth, many of whom care for children of essential workers, and will help keep child care facilities safe for staff, children in care, and their parents and families that rely on this vital service.

Department Of Health Provides Update On COVID-19: More Than 4.7 Million Vaccinations To Date

Wolf Administration Discusses Partnership Between COVID-19 Vaccine Providers, Area Agencies On Aging, MCOs To Help Seniors Secure Vaccine Appointments

York, PA – The Wolf Administration today discussed an amended order signed by Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam, indicating that certain vaccine providers must work with local Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and Medical Assistance Managed Care Organizations (MA MCOs) to schedule vaccination appointments for adults eligible in Phase 1A of the state’s vaccination plan.

“We continue to hear from seniors and those with certain medical conditions who are eligible to be vaccinated in Phase 1A that they are still struggling to sign up to get vaccinated,” Acting Sec. Beam said. “Our trusted providers and the state’s 52 Area Agencies on Aging and Medical Assistance Managed Care Organizations, are doing a tremendous job partnering with providers to fix that problem and ultimately get our Phase 1A eligible Pennsylvanians vaccinated in short order so that we can continue on the path of making vaccine available for all Pennsylvanians.”
