PITTSBURGH, PA – October 28, 2024 – Today, Senator Jay Costa announces $935,000 in LSA dollars benefitting Swissvale Borough.

“I am delighted to be announcing the recipients of these LSA dollars to benefit this great corner of the 43rd district,” said Senator Costa. “Swissvale is home to thriving families, beautiful communities, and hard-working yinzers, and I am so proud to be supporting the Borough with this funding. I look forward to these projects getting done and improving the lives of the good people who call Swissvale home.”

The grant dollars benefitting Swissvale are as follows:

Swissvale Borough was awarded $300,000 for the Acquisition and Renovation of a Food Pantry. The borough will purchase the building to allow the food bank to continue their operations servicing approximately 100 residents bi-weekly. 

Swissvale Borough was also awarded $250,000 for M-48 Stormwater and Groundwater Remediation Project Swissvale Borough.

Swissvale Borough was further awarded $35,000 for a Traffic Calming Study. The borough plans to hire a traffic engineer to determine where traffic calming is necessary and will determine the highest priority and what types of traffic calming measures should be implemented in those areas. 

Swissvale Borough was additionally awarded $350,000 to rehabilitate the 100-year-old Wilkins Community Center Rehabilitation.
